SMFA LORE.

OVERVIEW

Set on a post-apocalyptic planet known as Proxima, centuries after a race of advanced beings colonised the planet, little remains of what was once a thriving civilisation.
The planet was shattered by war as territorial and political disputes spiralled into total conflict. As chaos spread, all communication with the outside universe was severed. Isolated and divided, a once highly advanced society collapsed into warring factions, locked in a brutal struggle for dominance and survival.

In a desperate attempt to regain control, the original governing council known as O-MEX used the planet’s last remaining resources to engineer the Super Massive Flying Apes, colossal bionic and robotic enforcers designed to police the chaos. Twenty-three were created. Some were fully artificial beings, others were bio-mechanical hybrids, and a few were piloted machines. Designed as guardians, they were quickly seized by warlords and repurposed into tools of war and destruction.

Years later, most of these titans have faded into legend, destroyed or lost, lying dormant across the ruined world. Only fifteen are accounted for. Amid the wreckage, our lone protagonist, an RX33 ranger from the resistance faction, begins a desperate search for Enos-2, the last known half-manned flying ape. The hope is to use Enos-2 to escape the planet’s constraints and return to the home world, carrying with them the truth of what happened. But with opposing factions set on war, the race is on before all is lost.

FACTION ORIGINS & DIVISION

After centuries of exploration, innovation, and scientific advancement, Proxima was chosen for the next great colony. The Orbital Migration Expedition, known as O-MEX, declared the planet stable, habitable, and rich in untapped resources, an ideal new beginning. That promise was a lie.

Later revelations exposed the research as deliberately manipulated. Influential scientists and political leaders within the O-MEX command falsified findings to satisfy a frustrated population and strengthen their standing within the ruling council. For a time, the colony thrived. Cities expanded, industries flourished, and hope endured. But as the years passed, reality caught up. Resources were far more limited than predicted, environmental conditions deteriorated, and expansion slowed. Public trust eroded, and arguments over Proxima’s future grew increasingly bitter.

What began as ideological disagreement hardened into deep division. The population fractured into rival factions, each driven by a radically different vision of survival. Conflict escalated into open warfare, prompting the council to deploy the Super Massive Flying Apes to restore order. Instead, they became weapons of unprecedented destruction, fuelling the war they were meant to end.

Faction One

The suppressive regime know as “SHADOW COMMAND” [SX]

Faction One is led by remnants of the original Orbital Migration Expedition, O-MEX. It is now under extreme leadership and is known as Shadow Command. They claim to preserve the colony, but in practice they instil doubt and rule through control. To them, Proxima must be made to work, no matter the cost. They believe discipline and sacrifice justify extreme measures. Any attempt to abandon the planet is treated as treason, threatening both their authority and the narrative that the colony was never a mistake.

Publicly, this faction speaks of peace, justice, and stability. Privately, they suppress rebellion and eliminate challengers. As the largest and most resource-rich faction, they maintain dominance through fear, aggression, and superior numbers.

Faction Two

The freedom fighters know as RX33

Faction Two rejects the colony and the authority of Shadow Command entirely. They believe the population was deceived and sacrificed through manipulated research and false promises. To them, Proxima is not a home. It is a slow-death prison enforced by a corrupt regime. Unwilling to accept enforced obedience, these resistance fighters, known as the RX-33, fight to escape. They are smart, highly organised, and tactically brilliant, specialising in raids and strategic strikes against the [SX]. Their goal is not to rule Proxima, but to break free, seizing whatever flying apes remain and using the wreckage of the colony to launch themselves toward new worlds. They accept collateral damage as inevitable, believing freedom is worth any cost. To Shadow Command, they are terrorists. To their followers, they are the last chance at freedom.

Faction Three

The unpredictable, neutral outliers know as the “The Drift”

Known as The Drift. The members of Faction Three vanished into the wilderness early in the conflict, choosing secrecy over allegiance. Officially neutral, they reject both the Regime and the Resistance, believing political ideology led to the colony’s collapse in the first place. They avoid direct confrontation but display overwhelming force when threatened. They are known for stealth and are generally only found when they want to be. The Drift are know to have may interests outside of the war making them easliy distracted. From the study of the planets fauna and flora to engineering and mining .This lack of focus on war has weakened their military position. However, rumoured to possess three functioning manned flying apes and to be restoring a fourth powerful unit known only as APE-X, they represent a silent and unpredictable threat. If APE-X is successfully restored, they would gain superiority over both rival factions. Though they claim no political agenda, their growing power ensures they cannot remain uninvolved. As war escalates, both Shadow Command and the RX33 seek fragile alliances to tip the balance.
